Hardy's Retreat. Wow what a place. Never ever seen such a beautiful view into the valley. Located at an ideal place for tourists who wish to spend time in nature. Kufri and Chail is close by. The ambiance of the interiors is good and spacious. Standing on the balcony and breathing pure air is the hallmark of this place. The food is excellent woth the owners taking personal interest. The hospitality is at a high level. I enjoyed every moment of my stay. The Chauhans are wonderful couple taking care of the guests at personal level. I would recommend for families to enjoy the hills, trekking at leisure and enjoy the environment. Total bliss. Thank you Hardy's for making our holiday truly memorable. Looking forward to our next visit.

We’re proud to share that our restaurant has become a place where good food meets great people. From the very beginning, our goal has been to create an atmosphere that feels warm, welcoming, and full of flavor. Every dish on our menu is prepared with the freshest ingredients, care, and a genuine love for cooking.
Our guests especially appreciate the friendly service, comfortable ambience, and the balance of traditional taste with a modern twist. Whether you’re here for a casual meal with friends, a family gathering, or a quiet evening, we strive to make every visit memorable.
We’re grateful for the support and encouragement from everyone who walks through our doors — it inspires us to keep getting better every day. Come experience the food, the vibe, and the heart behind it all.

A day at Hardy’s Retreat was nothing short of blissful. The Sun shone brightly, unveiling a spectacular panorama of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the gracious owner, Col & Mrs Chauhan, and enjoyed a delightful conversation over steaming tea and delicious snacks.
Lunch was a culinary treat, with Mrs Chauhan preparing the renowned Himachali Siddu , both sweet and savoury versions , simply exquisite. The continental dishes that followed were equally remarkable leaving us thoroughly impressed.
The hospitality of the hosts added a personal touch that made our visit even more memorable.
Hardy’s Retreat is an absolute must-visit when in Shimla, a beautifully designed property that blends tasteful aesthetics with genuine warmth and charm.

We spent a couple of days at Hardy’s Retreat, and it truly felt like an experience, not just a stay. Run by an Army veteran and his family, the warmth and hospitality really stand out, they went out of their way to share genuine local insights and guide us on what to explore nearby.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the rooms were neat, clean, and comfortable. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the view. Perched on a hill, the retreat offers a breathtaking panorama of the valley. Waking up to the sight of the valley and the snow-covered peaks of Dhauladhar Range (distant but visible) right from our bed was simply unforgettable.
I highly recommend Hardy's Retreat and will definitely be back!

We stayed at Hardy’s Retreat in Koti during a recent family trip to Shimla, and it was a truly memorable experience. The location is peaceful and scenic, with stunning mountain views – the perfect escape from the busy city life.
The property was exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which made our stay very comfortable. One of the highlights was the food – every meal was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor.
What really stood out, though, was the warm hospitality. The owners, Mr. Hardy and Mrs. Neeta, along with their staff, were incredibly welcoming and kind. They made us feel like part of the family and were always available to help with anything we needed.
If you’re looking for a serene, beautiful retreat near Shimla with excellent food and genuinely caring hosts, I highly recommend Hardy’s Retreat.

The most incredible thing about this resort is the inexplicable hospitality being shown by the owner Colonel Hardayal Singh & his wife. It was like a home away from home. Great dining experience with each menu having its own essence of taste and smell which is perfectly curated and prepared exactly the way we get a home. We spent the Christmas evening and were highly delighted with the arrangement made for us with bonfire, kababs, drinks along with a trip down memory lane. Our kids also enjoyed a lot and it was an wonderful experience which will will cherish for the life time. Would highly recommend to all categories of travelers, be it couple with or without kids, solo travelers or a group of travelers.

I will be returning home after an incredible three-day adventure in the enchanting Shivalik mountains. However, what truly made this trip unforgettable was our choice to stay at Hardys Retreat. Encircled by tranquil mountains and forests, the view from our balcony was breathtaking. The accommodations were impeccably clean and comfortable. I've never tasted food as delicious as what we had; it was truly the best. The staff was polite and very helpful. Additionally, the retreat is owned by a retired Army Colonel, who always ensures that guests receive the highest quality experience. He provided us with invaluable advice on our itinerary multiple times. We explored Chail, Kufri, and Shimla, but enjoyed our stay here the most.

Stayed at Hardys Retreat for 2 days. Peace, tranquillity and pristine surroundings are keynote of the stay, enhanced by the hosts that grace the guests with charming hospitality. Got a taste of the occasional culinary twists by the host, who has a knack of coming up with exemplary dishes/ desserts, though she modestly declines her talent. Even discounting the ongoing modifications, the stay and comfort not compromised, was relished to the hilt. The accommodations are very well furnished, and the view is spectacular from the terrace. The washrooms are maintained immaculate. For those seeking a bit of adventure in the serenity, there is paragliding next door, but as time was short for us, we sought solace in toddy and some idle banter with the hosts. It is just the idyllic retreat to rejuvenate the soul! Or clear the lungs inhaling fresh mountain air!!

Had a great stay at this property. The location and overall ambience are really nice, especially with the beautiful surroundings and peaceful vibe. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and well-maintained, which made the stay comfortable.
The staff was polite, helpful, and cooperative throughout our visit. They also arranged a bonfire and DJ for us, which made the evening enjoyable and memorable.
Breakfast options are a bit limited, and the toiletries provided are average, which is something that could be improved.
Overall, it’s a good property for a relaxing stay, and I would definitely recommend it.

Truly a Hidden Gem in Chail!
We visited Hardy’s Retreat with four generations of family (12 adults and 2 kids), and it was nothing short of perfect. The rooms were spotless, beautifully maintained, and the views were absolutely breathtaking—so much so that we didn’t even feel the need to visit other tourist spots.
The owner, a retired army colonel, was incredibly warm and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. A special thanks to his wonderful wife, who made a delicious dessert just for us—a truly personal touch! The staff, food, and hospitality were all top-notch.
If you’re visiting Chail with family, don’t think twice—book Hardy’s Retreat. You’ll be glad you did!

I had the pleasure of staying two nights at Hardy’s Retreat in Chail, and it was one of the most peaceful and memorable getaways I’ve had in a while.
The property is new, beautifully maintained, and offers top-notch room quality—spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. It’s nestled in a quiet spot surrounded by nature, making it perfect for a relaxing break.
One of the highlights of the stay was the hospitality of the hosts. The retreat is run by a retired Colonel and his wife, both of whom are incredibly friendly, warm, and helpful.
The food deserves a special mention—each meal was freshly prepared, delicious, and felt just like a hearty, home-cooked spread. The taste and quality were consistently excellent throughout our stay.

The property itself is beautifully nestled in the serene hills of Himachal, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms were cozy, clean, and well-equipped, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light and mountain air.

I had a truly delightful experience at this hotel. From the moment we arrived—despite it being quite late—the warmth and hospitality extended by the owner and the staff were remarkable. One of the standout moments was being served a hot and absolutely delicious meal at midnight, a gesture that speaks volumes about their dedication and thoughtfulness.

Stayed 2 days from 29 to 3st May 2026 at the Retreat with my son, daughter in law, grand daughter and of course wife. Both mysrlf and wife were Sr.Citizens and the Retreat was adequately equiped to meet our requirements. Took 2 spacious hill facing panoromic view rooms. Rooms were cosy, utmost clean with all facilities. Beds were super soft with high quality white linens. Wash rooms were impeccably clean, stain and odour free. Rooms were well venilated, airy and we'll decorated. It was as if we were in our own house.
Room services were extremely fast. Food were very very tasty and served hot with high class crockery and polite attendants. Both Veg and non veg items were served with elegance and in super cleaned dinning room. We enjoyed all meals be it breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most remarkable was their buffet arangements. We were extremely happy and delighted to meet the owner Col. Chouhan and Mrs.Chouhan. Both took personal care on all aspects be it food, accommodation and evening sight seeing.

A home away from home
Hardy’s Retreat is a breath of fresh air for anyone looking to escape the crowded tourist traps of Shimla. Me, my wife and a couple of our friends recently had the fortune of staying at this beautifully made and passionately run stay, located in the serene Koti valley. The property overlooks a valley and an endless forest, which for a city dweller is the perfect setting to help unwind.
The Stay is run by Colonel Chauhan a retired Army veteran and his family, which is reflected in his attention to detail and the impeccable discipline, cleanliness, warm hospitality you receive from the moment you check-in to the suggestions that you receive during your stay. From the moment we stepped our foot in this spectacular stay we felt completely at home, a compliment not many places despite years of operations would be able to achieve.
Although a short, but a memorable stay is what Hardy’s retreat has been to us and we have all vowed to return whenever time permits us and the hills call us.
Kudos to the entire team.

Hardys Retreat is a hidden gem nestled in the serene and untouched hills near Shimla, in a quaint area called Koti. What sets this place apart is its location — far from the usual touristy chaos, surrounded by tree-clad mountains, offering absolute peace and spectacular natural beauty.
The rooms are extremely comfortable and well-equipped with all necessary amenities. The large windows open up to breathtaking views of the mountains, and both sunrise and sunset are a sight to behold from here.
The hospitality is top-notch. The staff is warm, courteous, and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. The food served is home-style, fresh, and absolutely delicious.
Adding to the charm is the fact that the property is owned by an Army veteran and run lovingly by the family, which brings a personal and homely touch to the entire experience.
If you’re looking to disconnect from the hustle and noise of daily life and soak in the calm of nature, I highly recommend Hardys Retreat. It’s the perfect escape.

Our stay was truly unforgettable, highlighted by the breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains right from our balcony. Waking up to the mist rolling off the peaks and watching the sunset paint the sky in hues of gold and purple was a spiritual experience. The hotel is perfectly positioned to offer an unobstructed vista, making it feel like a secluded sanctuary despite its modern comforts. If you are looking for a peaceful escape where the majesty of nature is the main attraction, this is the perfect destination."

Had an amazing stay here! The hotel is located in such a beautiful place with stunning surroundings and a really peaceful atmosphere. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the staff were polite and helpful throughout our stay. The food and overall service were excellent too. I stayed at this beautiful property with bunch of friends (along with a kid ) and it was an amazing experience. I loved the calm and serenity of the location. This is a perfect gateway if you want a peaceful time away from your daily hustle. The host are very courteous and the hospitality is great. Each meal we had and each recommendation be it for a food joint or a trek, Mr Hardy made sure we had the best experience. Dont think twice before booking.

Located in Koti (Chail Road), the retreat is perched on a ridge that offers a panoramic 360-degree view of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Unlike large commercial hotels, it feels personal and rustic, blending modern comforts with a quiet, off-beat mountain vibe.
The property is managed by Colonel Hardyal Chauhan and his family. Guests frequently mention their warm hospitality, often sharing stories over tea or enjoying home-cooked meals. The in-house kitchen is a standout. It serves a mix of Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisines, often praised for being fresh and "made-to-order."
It is one of the few high-end stays in the Shimla-Chail area that genuinely welcomes pets without extra charges.
It’s a great base for low-impact activities like nature walks through cedar forests, village visits, and evening bonfires on the terrace.
If you are looking for a quiet, soulful getaway where you are treated like a guest in a private home rather than just a room number, Hardy's Retreat is an excellent choice. It is perfect for couples, families with kids, and pet owners who want to escape the Shimla crowds.
